Welcome to a new episode of the Front Pew! We have been taking a bit of a summer break from recording new content, but now we are back with a fresh pod! We are happy to welcome a guest host, Matthew Hall, who serves as a student pastor at Abner Creek Baptist in Greer, SC. We discuss how the church/pastor should view, relate, and invest in student ministry. Hope it encourages you!

We are taking a bit of a summer break here on the Front Pew, so we've decided to share some sermons from our regular preaching ministry in our local churches. This week we hear from Matt, whose sermon is his introduction to a series on the Ten Commandments. We hope it will edify and challenge you in your walk with Christ!

Welcome to the Front Pew! Summer is super busy for us, as it probably is for you as well. It has been really tough finding time to record with our schedules. So, we have decided to share some of our sermons with you over the next couple of weeks.

First up is a sermon by Chris from Colossians 4. We hope it will prove to be edifying to you and will encourage you in the work of the gospel!

Thanks for listening and please stay in touch with us! You can do so through email (frontpew1@gmail.com) or Twitter (@thefrontpew) or on our Facebook page.

Welcome to another episode of the Front Pew! Well, not a new episode, but a re-run from last July. This was one of our most listened to episodes, so we thought we would replay it!

Things are really busy for us this Summer, so we have taken a little bit of a break from recording new content. We will be back soon with some new episodes. Thanks for being patient with us.

Here are the original show notes from last July when this episode first aired:

Hope everyone is enjoying this time of the summer when we celebrate the 4th of July! Inevitably, this time of year raises some questions for some pastors and churches concerning how blended our patriotism (which is good) and our worship of Jesus (which is also good) should be when we gather in our churches. Should we have patriotic services? Should we sing patriotic songs? What about fireworks in the sanctuary?

For years now there has been a passionate debate, especially in the South where we are, about God and country. Many claim that America was founded as a Christian nation, and others disagree. In some contexts it is difficult during this time of year to discern who or what is being worshiped in our churches when we are waving our flags and singing patriotic songs. Some churches bend the other way and see all patriotic expressions as harmful and sinful.

So, in this episode of the Front Pew we wade into the discussion. To help us, we reached out to Dr. Nathan Finn, a Christian who also happens to be a professor with an expertise in history. His interview was very helpful and we hope you are encouraged by it.

Thanks again for listening! If you are able, subscribe on iTunes, leave us review and share our little podcast with your friends! You can connect with us through email (frontpew1@gmail.com), Twitter (@thefrontpew) and on our Face Book page.

Have a great 4th!
